Casimir

Lost Bunny

Backstory

In 1998 Casimir was born. There was nothing particularly special about him. His parents were normal people with normal jobs, they took good care of him and gave him a very loving upbring.Everything in Cas’ life was going well until September 17, 2005. The 7 year old was enjoying the local fair with his parents when a child went missing. His parents, being the kind and compassionate people they are, rushed to help the mother look for her missing child. That was the moment Casimir’s life was over. It turns out that the woman’s child was never missing, she was just a distraction to get Cas alone so a group of unknown men could snatch him up and disappear.Cas doesn’t remember much of being taken. His next memories take place in what he thought was a hospital, but he would soon find out was the exact opposite. He was left in a strange cold room, strapped down to a hospital bed and unable to move. Blurred faces of doctors came in and out, taking samples of his blood and sometimes giving him shots of mysterious chemicals. It didn’t take long for Casimir to realize what he was: an experiment. He was being held in an illegal testing facility, run by doctors and scientists long ago discredited in their field for extreme and unethical practices. Most of the time the experiments consisted of a series of shots that left him aching and uncomfortable, but otherwise had no effect. For a long while Casimir’s life was uneventful. He was moved into a small room where he could move around. The drug he was given kept him weak to the point he wouldn’t be able to escape. He was brought meals twice a day and was kept in his room when he was not being ‘treated’ by the doctors. Nothing changed for so long Cas was convinced he would grow to be an old man in his tiny room, drugged and neglected. In a shocking turn of events, things did change. One night in late 2016 Cas woke up in the worst pain of his entire life. He felt like he was on fire. Sweat soaked through the bed sheets as he writhed in pain. He cried out screaming at the top of his lungs for help, to make it stop. and then he blacked out.The next time Cas awoke he was in a new room, surrounded by all the doctors and scientists at the facility. All of them were gathered around prodding at his body, speaking amongst each other. Everything on Cas hurt, the voices seemed louder, the bed more uncomfortable, and the lights brighter. Before Cas got a chance to orient himself there was a hand reaching for his face, no, his hair. He cowered down, fearful of a harsh grip to his hair, but it never came. Instead the scientist made contact with something else, something that had his sense’s lighting on fire again. That was the first time someone touched Cas’ ear. The new sensation had him in such a state of panic that he lost consciousness again and slumped onto the bed.Things didn’t get better from that point. Casimir pieced together that he was a hybrid. All of these years, all these experiments have been in an attempt to merge human DNA with that of an animal, specifically in Cas’ case, a bunny. It seems that years of experiments have finally yielded the desired results, but at what cost?Casimir hadn’t seen anyone outside the facility in 16 years. He has no idea what the world is like and he's sure at this point he never will. It’s been five years since he was changed, and he’s still being kept at the facility. The painful experiments have stopped, but the tests haven’t. The scientists still want to find out more about how to make more hybrids.
